What to Expect When You’re Expecting

I’m not talking about giving birth here, (sorry for the heart attack parents), I’m talking about food babies.

You know when you have eaten so much that you have to undo the button of your trousers to make yourself feel more comfortable? Or when you know you are going to be having a big meal so you deliberately wear stretchy leggings/trousers or a floaty dress?

It’s that feeling when you are too scared to open your mouth in case the last thing you ate comes back out, or that feeling when you have to lie down and not move an inch because you are so uncomfortable or when you can’t even take a sip of water because there is no more room.

On that note, let’s talk about Thanksgiving.

For Thanksgiving nine of us rented a house in the Poconos in Pennsylvania about two hours outside of the city and drove up for two nights of food, drink and fun. A beautiful house with a firepit, open planned and plenty of room for everyone it was the perfect location for a cosy couple of days.

We ate our bodyweight and more in delicious food, including turkey, cranberry sauce, veg, every kind of potato, macaroni cheese, stuffing, sweet potato with marshmallows and so much more.

We drank our bodyweight, and so much more, in booze – I don’t think we have ever over-bought anything in our lives. Vodka, gin, whisky, champagne, beer, prosecco and more boxed wine than is ever neccessary.

We played games, including quizzes and drinking games – learning a lot more about each other than we really needed to.

Let’s maybe not talk about the drive back on Saturday morning.

A great couple of days with lovely company and epic memories – here’s to more holidays. I can safely say my first Thanksgiving was a perfect one.

Have you ever celebrated Thanksgiving?
