I used to not be a burger person, and now with the uprising of burger restaurants I am slowly but surely enjoying them more and more.
My friend Alice and I were feeling a little bit delicate on this beautiful Saturday, and since we had gone to see the amazing ‘You Say You Want A Revolution?’ exhibition at the V and A, we decided to go to Honest Burgers which was just around the corner.
Filled to the brim with people we were told to wait outside until they called our name for the table – decide to wander off and you weren’t getting your seat.
Don’t worry, we didn’t wait too long, and even if we had to the burgers would have been worth it.
In true London style we were ushered to a communal table next to an awkward couple who weren’t talking to each other and given our menus. Their special that day was the ‘Guac’ , beef, smoked bacon, Monterey jack cheese, guacamole and Harissa mayo.
That was me SOLD.
The burgers arrived and I could see my reflection in the bun as it was calling my name, the paper my burger was served on had avocado’s printed all over it. This was it, this is what they call hangover heaven.
I genuinely believe we were silent for about ten minutes as our eyes rolled into the back of our heads upon eating the burgers. (We then understood the awkwardly silent couple).
My burger was full of flavour, perfectly cooked and altogether heaven in a bun. When it was gone I cried a little bit, just kidding, I would have if it was socially acceptable.
The onion rings were crispy, rich and delicious – proper onion rings.
The chips were overshadowed by everything else – I will always leave the chips last as I feel like the main components are more important.
Have you been to Honest Burgers? What did you think?
