Flat Iron, London

While in London I met up with my friend Alice for a catch up over dinner, she suggested Flat Iron, a reasonably priced Steak restaurant. I was there with bells on.

We walked through Soho and stumbled upon the restaurant which was a small venue covered in dark wood with….yes you guessed it, communal tables. If you live in London you will by now know most people’s elbows better than you know their faces.

The menu is on the wall, well, I say the menu but what I really mean is that your one option for dinner is on the wall.

That is correct, you go here for flat iron steak and flat iron steak only.

However we were informed their special was a burger that night so we did have the wide variety of choice between a burger and a steak, but we didn’t want to go against what the wall menu suggested, so steak it was.

With our steaks we ordered the dripping chips and creamed spinach to share and we also both decided on getting Fred’s Sauce which was similar to a bloody mary. As you can see we were also treated to some popcorn to nibble on.

The steak was perfectly cooked and came with a knife that made you feel like a proper butcher, just a dainty version. Fred’s Sauce had a great tang to it, the chips were moreish and the creamed spinach was delightful. I couldn’t fault any of it.

All of the staff were beautiful, our waitress was lovely and helpful with the menu. I cringed at the end because I asked for a dessert menu when of course…the one option for the dessert was also on the wall…woops! Thankfully the waitress found this amusing.

Overall, an awesome experience and believe it or not a flat iron steak from Flat Iron itself only costs £10!!!!! My mind was blown.

Thank you Alice for taking me here, and apologies to the guy beside us who had to listen to our conversation until his friend arrived…just kidding I think he loved it.

Have you been to Flat Iron? What did you think?

Food: 4/5

Decor: 4/5

Service: 5/5

Price: 5/5 Steak £10, sides £2.50-£3.50.

Recommend: Seriously? A decent steak that only cost a tenner? That’s a pretty good situation they have going there. Even if the thought of rubbing elbows with a stranger freaks you out, it’s totally worth it.
