This week we are chatting to Iain the man behind Citylicious, a platform designed to bring the latest food and drink news, deals, recipes, events, and openings, ranging from across the UK and US.
“Our ambition is to create a platform that transcends cultural differences and builds a global community that shares its passion for food & drink”
If you are ever stuck for somewhere to go for a bite to eat, a romantic break or what gin you should be drinking this month, you now know were to go.
Have you met…..Citylicious?
Why the name Citylicious?
We used to have an Edinburgh food blog called Edinburghlicious, so when we expanded, we looked at something that would bring all of the city blogs together and came up with Citylicious
Describe Citylicious in three words:
Informative, fun, delicious
What made you start Citylicious?
A desperate yearning to get out of my mundane 9 to 5 office job! Hallelujah!
What is your favourite food to eat? Why?
Pasta. I love good, fresh pasta. Some tagliatelle with butter, garlic, black truffle… very simple and very tasty! The simplicity of it is what I love.
What is your least favourite food to eat? Why?
Mussels in a tomato sauce. Why oh why would you put a tomato sauce on a fresh, beautiful bowl of mussels??? Philistines!
Where is your favourite place to eat and why?
Ok, I cannot answer this honestly without one of my clients moaning! So, I would have to say, my family home. My mother does the world’s best chocolate cheesecake!
Where is your favourite place to drink and why?
Ok, there is a pub in Perth called The Grill. No fancy cocktails, no frills, just a good local pub, where I know everyone, can have a game of pool and have fun. God I hope my mum doesn’t read this!
Where is your favourite place to have a coffee and why?
Blend in Perth. I love a good artisan roasting house, and their coffee and ambience is everything I look for in a coffee house.
You can only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My mother’s chocolate cheesecake, it’s that good!
What is your biggest food vice?
Toast and peanut butter! Of course it has to have butter, and peanut butter! Yum!
What is your favourite city for food? Any recommendations?
This may be a bit controversial… Glasgow… La Boca, The Gannet, Cail Bruich, Guys Restaurant…
Fill in the gaps: If I had to be food I would be Wagyu Beef because I like being pampered!
What are your three favourite social media accounts to follow? (Can be any form of social media)
Tasty on Facebook, @StickyWalnut on Twitter and Guy Cowan who owns Guy’s Restaurant in Glasgow is a nutter, always entertaining posts on his FB account!
