One of the great things about blogger events is meeting new people and yet often it is nerve wracking as you are inevitably going out for dinner/tasting food/drinking with strangers.
This is how I met Lorna from Tuggy Tucks In, and ever since we have been to a few events together. It’s always comforting to know someone on these occasions, especially when you can have a good laugh with them.
Let’s get to know a bit more about the person behind Tuggy Tucks In…
Why the name ‘’Tuggy Tucks In’?
Tuggy is short for Tugman which is my last name, albeit a very unusual last name! I’m so used to my dad and brother getting called ‘Tuggy’ and now people call me it too ;-P
Describe your blog in three words:
Recipes / Restaurant reviews
What made you start blogging?
My friend ‘House of Herby,’ she blogs about restaurants and recipes mainly in Glasgow and I wanted to do the same in my city (Edinburgh). She’s also a Home Economics teacher like me 🙂
Why should we follow your blog?
Name your three favourite things about Edinburgh:
I love its history, its diversity and the fact that there is always something going on no matter your food likes and dislikes.
What is your favourite food to eat? Why?
I love risotto, pizza, burgers, steak, pasta, burritos curries, tapas, the list goes on…. I’m pretty versatile, the only thing I struggle with is seafood, but I’m getting better! I now eat prawns courtesy of the most amazing King Prawn curry that I had when I visited Navadhanya near Haymarket train station earlier this year.
What is your least favourite food to eat? Why?
I’m not a massive fan of shellfish, especially lobster or mussels, I never ate it growing up and I just can’t see the appeal!
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh to eat and why?
That’s so difficult! There’s so much choice in Edinburgh that I find it easy to go to new places all the time!
Where is your favourite place to drink in Edinburgh and why?
The Jolly Botanist is close by to my house and it’s good for catching up with friends with a great selection of gins. I also like Hoot the Redeemer for some quirkiness and cocktails.
Where is your favourite place to have a coffee in Edinburgh and why?
I love coffee and one of my favourite places to take people in general is Bruntsfield. It’s coffee and cake heaven up there. Artisan Roast, Project Coffee and The Chocolate Tree are all favourite spots of mine. I want to try Counter on the canal though, love that idea!
You can only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Spaghetti carbonara, it’s my favourite food in the world! Creamy, a little cheesy with smoked bacon, all my favourite flavours. Slightly jealous that my dad’s probably marginally tastes better than mine!
What is your biggest food vice?
Trotters Hot Pepper Jelly, I bought it from the Christmas foodies festival last year and I can only get it in Harvey Nichols Chocolate Lounge now. I eat it on sandwiches, oat cakes and add it when cooking chilli and spaghetti bolognaise!
What is your favourite city for food other than Edinburgh? Any recommendations?
Ooooo, no I know Edinburgh so well now that I live here, I don’t find much need to go anywhere else.
Fill in the gaps : If I had to be food I would be ….. Because…
A burrito, it can be filled with so much yumminess from chicken to pulled pork, guacamole and sour cream, fresh chillies, rice, refried beans, cheese…… The options are endless!
What are your three favourite social media accounts to follow? (Can be any form of social media)
