Hula Juice Bar, Edinburgh

Hula is an Edinburgh institution, even if you have not been you know where it is or you have heard someone talk about it. If you haven’t heard of it, then you really need to question whether you are an Edinburgh resident or not.

Newly refurbished and located on Victoria Street it is somewhere you simply have to visit.

It was a fine sunny day and my friend Linzi and I decided to go out for some brunch, I suggested Hula as I haven’t eaten there in quite a while, I have only managed to dash in and out since the refurb to grab one of their many smoothies. (My boyfriend introduced me to the Nutty Professor and I have never looked back.*)

*Nutty Professor = Banana, peanut butter and frozen yoghurt smoothie.

We plonked ourselves outside so we could:

A. Enjoy the sunshine

B. People watch

C. Get chased by a wasp

I decided to have the avocado sourdough toast with smoked salmon which included sun-dried tomato oil, chilli flakes, chia, sesame seeds, salt flakes, and rocket.

This looked beautiful and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in, a truly fab dish.

The wasp decided he really really wanted to join us so unfortunately we were running around the table laughing because both of us are sh*t-scared of wasps.

It was one of those moments where people looked at you really strangely, but then the wasp headed over to them and they did the exact same thing.

ANYWAY BACK TO THE FOOD, the salmon was delicious and fresh and the avocado on toast was the perfect dish for brunch as it was light but filling and set me up for the rest of the day.

Hula also have these incredibly photogenic smoothie bowls that I would like to try, they are served in coconuts….I mean, Instagram much?

Evidence:

Off you go to Hula, what’s stopping you?

Have you been to Hula? What did you think?
