Have you met….Chophouse?

I LOVE Chophouse, I have only been twice but it is well on it’s way to becoming my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh.

The food is delicious, the decor is industrial chic and the staff are so lovely when you leave you feel you have just acquired some new friends.

I recently went to try their express lunch menu, which I will write about soon.

In the meantime, why don’t you get to know them.

Describe Chop House in three words

Steak, wine, cocktails

Why the name Chop House?

Chop House refers a traditional British restaurant from the 19th century where good company, fine wines and meat were enjoyed. We wanted to recreate this with our unique blend of dry-aged steak, wine and cocktails.

Where do you see Chop House in five years?

We hope to grow with more sites whilst maintaining the same high standards we have set out. Where and when we do this is another question!

Describe your menu in a sentence:

Best of British Beef, cooked over an open flame charcoal grill and served with all the side

What is the most popular item on your menu?

Our sharing cuts of beef are very popular, large cuts such as chateaubriand, bone-in rib and porterhouse offers diners a unique experience.

What is the least popular item on your menu?

As a steak restaurant we don’t see many vegetarians and although our portobello mushroom and goats cheese dish is delicious most people can’t see past our steaks!

Give us three reasons why we should come to Chop House ?

Steak, sides & cocktails!

If you had to eat anything in the world for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

A quality made burger!

If you had to eat anywhere in Edinburgh (apart from Chop House) for the rest of your life where would it be

I would have to say Sygn, a bar within the same group for the previous reason. I love their Cajun Cauliflower veggie burger and their Pig burger with pulled pork, melted cheese, jaelapenos, chillies! There’s so much variation and experimenting with burgers and toppings, I love it!

What is your biggest food vice?

Dessert! I don’t think I’m alone there and regardless of how much food you eat for starter and mains there’s always room for dessert 🙂

Favourite city for food other than Edinburgh?

Barcelona! I love tapas and the sharing culture involved. It’s something we have tried to encourage with the Chop House with our sharing cuts of steak and various sides and starters that are designed for sharing.

Fill in the gaps : If I had to be food I would be  ….. Because…

Banoffee pie because it’s my favourite dessert and the banana aspect makes me feel slightly healthy! Part of your 5 a day no?

If you are going out for a drink in Edinburgh where do you head? (Other than Chop House)

I like going for drinks in Stockbridge as there’s various bars for great cocktails and food! It’s also a nice part of town outside the centre to walk around, down the canal etc!

You need a coffee, where is the first place in Edinburgh you think of? (Other than Chop House)

The Westroom! Great coffee and I love their breakfast and brunch.

The Westroom
