For me, The Pantry is Stockbridge and Stockbridge is The Pantry.
Why? Because it is elegant but casual, friendly, inviting and the epitome of local.
For a while my Instagram was filled with photos of The Pantry, and when this happens I get incredibly jealous that I have not managed to try it out. So, off we went.
Sitting at a table by the window it was lovely to watch the world go by, however the interior was also beautiful. Like many places in Edinburgh it is quirky but has its own personality.
On the menu there was an avocado toast section, and I couldn’t help but groan and say ‘here we go’ because the price of avocado toast continuously irks me, however I do still eat it so I should really be wheeshed.
We had one of the Smashed Avo Plates which was the prosciutto crudo and heirloom tomato salad and we also had the Sunshine on Stockbridge which had toast with guacamole, slow roasted thyme and paprika tomato, spiced sweet potato, roasted aubergine, poblano pepper, poached free range eggs and chili.
The avo toast was my choice and it cost £7.90, I honestly adored it. Here there and everywhere have avocado toast, so when you go to somewhere who mixes it up and makes you think that they really care and appreciate their food, then you are on to a winner. The tomatoes were fresh and delicious and the addition of the prosciutto was delightful. An all round lovely dish. As you can tell I did not mind paying that price for it.
I unfortunately never got to try the other dish due to someone eating too fast….oh well an excuse to go back I guess!
The coffee was okay, but I wouldn’t go just for that aspect.
Total: 14/20 from Cup of T!
