For my birthday I was lucky enough to be treated to dinner in Harvey Nichols at the Fourth Floor Brasserie and not only that I was surrounded by my best friends, and their company was enough to make it a special occasion.
An amazing restaurant, it is open plan with beautiful modern decor and a breathtaking view of Edinburgh. We were also lucky enough to be treated to live music by a lovely little band which was a great surprise. I guess I didn’t realise how important music was to a restaurant when contributing to its atmosphere until this point.
Service was of course on point with them being very efficient and fast, and at the end they were kind enough to give me four beautifully decorated cupcakes with Happy Birthday in icing on the plate.
For my starter I had the ‘Baby Gem Salad, Caramelised Apple, Celery, Walnuts and a Mustard Dressing’ and it was of course exactly what it said on the tin. Which although I should have expected that this was it, I was pretty disappointed, in my language it was a bowl of leaves with four pieces of apple, walnuts crushed up so much you could barely taste them and I couldn’t even tell you if there was celery involved, however the mustard dressing was a good factor. My meal was brightened by the delivery of my main course which was ‘Pan Fried Sea Bass, Nicoise Garnish, and Basil Oil’, it was delicious, light and the fish was cooked to perfection.
Overall a fantastic dinner, with one low point but this has not put me off going back one bit!
